The RAF Falcons schedule is usually announced in March or April each year.
The RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team are based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and they display at venues all over Britain and Europe throughout the year.
They are the only centrally funded, professional, military parachute display team in the UK. Their exciting free fall display, which includes advanced manoeuvres, falling at speeds up to 120mph, and their famous unique non-contact canopy stack manages to captivate all spectators.
The RAF Falcons parachute display is both unique and flexible. This is necessary due to weather conditions that will dictate which of the three types of show the team may be asked to perform at very late notice:
• High show: 9000 ft - 12,000 ft above ground level
• Mid show: 5000 ft - 9000 ft above ground level
• Low show: 2500 ft - 5000 ft above ground level
The team utilises a variety of aircraft, from which to jump, depending on aircraft availability and the nature of the display, including the C-130J Hercules, Chinook, Puma and Dakota.
