The Royal Navy's Sea Harrier F/A.2 began retirement with the disbandment of 800 Squadron in March 2004 and the disappearance of 899 Squadron in March 2005.

801 Squadron, the last Fleet Air Arm (FAA) Harrier squadron, will officially disband on 28th March 2006 at Yeovilton. At the end of March 2006 all Sea Harrier F/A.2s will be grounded and the Fleet Air Arm will operate the Harrier GR7/A and later the Harrier GR9/A at RAF Cottesmore. 801 Squadron will reform on April 1st 2006.
