Technical issues cause Red Arrows to cancel displays
The Red Arrows announced on Wednesday 16th August 2023 that due to 'unforeseen technical issues' that thay would be unable to display at the Cromer Carnival in Norfolk.
From the official Red Arrows Facebook Page (Wednesday 16.8.23):
'Unfortunately, today's display by the Red Arrows at Cromer Carnival will not go ahead. This is due to unforeseen technical issues we are working to resolve but which will not be completed in time for the show. We regret not being able to perform at Cromer but safety is our highest priority.'
They are working to resolve the problems but it is unknown if they will be ready in time for the Eastbourne Airshow which takes place from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th August 2023.
On Thursday 17th August 2023, another announcement by the Red Arrows stated that they would have to cancel their display at Thursday's Eastbourne International Airshow and that no decisions have yet been taken on tomorrow's show.
From the official Red Arrows Facebook Page (Thursday 17.8.23):
"Due to engineering issues with our Hawk aircraft, this afternoon's Red Arrows display at Eastbourne International Airshow will, unfortunately, not take place. We regret the cancellation but safety is our highest priority. Work continues to resolve the matter and no decisions have yet been taken on tomorrow's show."
On the morning of Friday 18th August 2023, it was announced that the Red Arrows would be resuming flying and weather permitting they would display at the Eastbourne Airshow.
From the official Red Arrows Facebook Page (Friday 18.8.23):
"Following a pause due to an engineering issue, the Red Arrows will resume display flying today. This includes a performance at the Eastbourne International Airshow later this afternoon - which is subject to severe weather forecast on the south coast. Please keep checking our social media channels for updates."
On Friday 18th August 2023, the Red Arrows took-off from RAF Waddington at about 2pm, landing at RAF Odiham and displayed at the Eastbourne International Airshow at about 4.30pm as planned.
