This time the award went to 34-year-old Captain Michael Reiner of the Swiss Air Force Fliegerstaffel 11 who was delighted by his success.
"This is certainly the best award I have received in three years of display flying," said Capt Reiner who graduated in 1993 and transitioned to F-18s in 2000. A single man, Capt Reiner now heads off to his next displays in Italy and Germany.
The night also proved triumphant for the Russian Aircraft Corporation duo, Pavel Vlasov and Mikhail Belyaev. With their MiG-29M performances, together they won the King Hussein Memorial Sword for best overall display, presented by Prince Faisal of Jordan.
Pavel Vlasov then stepped up to receive the award presented by Friends of RIAT for the best overall flying demonstration, As The Crow Flies Trophy.
Introducing the awards ceremony at the traditional Hangar Party, Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Knight, Chairman of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, said: "This year's Royal International Air Tattoo was among the best, if not the best, in its history.
"It was an outstanding effort and I don't think we missed a beat. The high standards and the discipline has been down to you all," Sir Michael told celebrating aircrew and ground crew.
"Thanks to Director Tim Prince and the team at Douglas Bader House, yet again this has been the biggest and best military airshow in the world."

Steedman Display Sword (Best Flying Demonstration by UK participant): Squadron Leader Matt Elliott in the Eurofighter Typhoon of 29 Squadron Royal Air Force.
Sir Douglas Bader Trophy (Best Individual Flying Demonstration): Captain Alan Wade in a Slingsby Firefly of the Defence Elementary Flying Training School.
