Abingdon Air & Country Show 2025

From the Abingdon Air & Country Show Facebook Page (11 October 2024):

2025:

"Following this years (2024) postponed event that took place on a smaller scale on 21/9, we have had a meeting whereby everything has been discussed and as the costs of putting on the Air Display program side of things keep rising together with the associated road closure & traffic management costs (& not to mention the all the paperwork involved), we after 24 years of running an air display program have for 2025 decided the 'Air Display' part of the event will not be run so effectively a year off from doing that.

Instead the event will take on a different stance thus to keep it running and viable.

What this means is we can also move the entire show back to the west side of the airfield where it traditionally was from 2000 - 2016 which allows us to utilise more concrete areas & better grass areas.

So the Country Show aspects we hope to build on and make more diverse, the Classic & ex Military vehicles we want to expand on and run more of the 'Classic vehicle parades' we trialled this year successfully, we hope to include a Dog Show and also we can bring back Tank Rides which were a hugely popular attraction when we were on the west side previously.

Aerial wise, instead of Air Displays we are looking at flypasts by various types, hoping it includes the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team the Red Arrows and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and we have requested for Royal Air Force transport & helicopter types to land & be open to the public (Like the C17 the last two years).

Theres lots of internal planning going on over the coming months with the flypasts side of things so, we hope to bring you some exciting news over the coming months on that score.

We are looking to run the event on Saturday 14th June 2025 and are excited to take the event to a different direction to keep it viable and continue.

Interested participants can apply soon via our website aswell as more information.

UPDATE (November 2024):

From the Abingdon Air & Country Show's Facebook Page:

NEWS UPDATE: After our postponed event was held in mid September, we put out a statement on 11th October about the changes for the 2025 show (being held on Saturday 14th June) and that there will be effectively a year off from staging the afternoon Air Display program we have successfully organised as part of the overall show for 24 years previously due to rising costs.

However after some recent news and a re-evaluation to look deeper into it all again we are delighted to announce we can now stage a smaller Air Display program during the afternoon aswell as flypasts - lets face it the 25th anniversary show would not be the same without one!. More exciting news on this will be forthcoming from February 2025 onwards.

Meanwhile, we can now add Ferret racing alongside the other attractions already announced (Miniature quarter scale Steam Engines, Flight Simulator, Classic & ex Military Vehicles, The Radio Days 16 piece orchestral Big Band, Jaguar & Vigilant cockpits, Travelin Light folk music, Tank Rides, Husky Dogs featuring a fun dog show for all types of dogs to enter into) plus Trade & Charity stalls, Exhibits, Hot Food & a Bar.... much more to come over the following 6 months.
