Organisers of the RAF Cosford Air Show today announced that the 2015 event, to be held on Sunday 14th June, would be an advance ticket only event. The change in policy comes as part of an effort to improve traffic flow and access to the site.
Air Show Director Clive Elliott said, “The move to become advance ticket only was a logical and necessary step for a number of important reasons, and it brings us in line with other major events. Speeding up access to the show is our number one priority, we want to give our visitors the best experience possible and we believe that these changes will make the 2015 event our best yet.”
Along with the launch of ticket sales, came an announcement of the air show’s key theme for 2015. “VE70 will be our main theme.” said Air Show Commercial Manager Marilyn Summers. “We will be re-creating the look and atmosphere of 1945 in a Victory Village containing music, food, vehicles and exhibitions of the era. There will of course be a spectacular aerial tribute.”
The RAF Cosford Air Show is the largest aviation event in the West Midlands but is also renowned for the huge variety of attractions on the ground with something for all the family. Other attractions that visitors to the show can enjoy include the children’s inflatables, simulator rides, aviation exhibitors and military grounds displays. There are also plenty of shopping options for all the family, various catering facilities and of course the RAF Museum.
In the last two years alone, the air show has raised over £500,000 which has been donated to local and RAF charities.

ECONOMY TAKES OFF WITH AIR SHOW BOOST
The RAF Cosford Air Show 2014 generated over £1.5 million worth of business in the West Midlands economy, a figure which is expected to be exceeded for the 2015 air show, planned for Sunday 14th June. Local hotels and B&Bs also feel the effects, with many being fully booked for the show weekend months in advance. In the last two years alone, the air show has raised over £500,000 which has been donated to local and RAF charities.
Another important factor is the RAF Cosford Air Show’s policy to award contracts to local suppliers where possible. Air Show Director Clive Elliott said “As with any large event, we require an extensive range of services. These range from tentage to catering and we try to support businesses in our wider catchment area when awarding such contracts.”
Other benefits for local businesses include the sponsorship, advertising and exhibition opportunities at the RAF Cosford Air Show. With an affluent audience of 55,000 the air show presents a perfect opportunity to engage with customers.
The Air Show also provides a unique setting for corporate hospitality with a number of different packages available. For those who want to enjoy the event in style, the Trenchard Enclosure benefits include VIP parking, all-inclusive bar, high quality catering and a prime viewing location for the flying displays.
