Newark Air Museum News
Winter Opening At Newark Air Museum

As 2011 draws to a close the staff and trustees at the Newark Air Museum would like to send out a big thank you to all of those people who have supported the museum throughout 2011.

This year the museum has attracted visitors from around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, across Europe, the Indian sub-continent and from around the UK. Each of these visitors, shoppers or event participants has helped to give the museum another excellent year, which is really appreciated and the museum members and staff would like to thank them all!

Newark Air Museum is located on part of the former World War II training base of RAF Winthorpe close to Nottinghamshire's border with Lincolnshire. During the winter months the museum is open every day and its site has extensive under cover displays including two aircraft display halls that house more than 44 aircraft, cockpits and helicopters.

In addition there are another 26 airframes and cockpits displayed outside and the museum exhibits a diverse display of aviation artefacts and a collection of more than thirty aero engines. On site there is an excellent Café and an extensive Shop, which was once described as "An Aviation Enthusiasts Dream!"

The museum is open 7 days a week, 10am to 4pm throughout the winter months. However special opening times during the forthcoming holiday period will apply.

This year the museum closes at 1600 hours on Friday, 23 December 2011 and reopens again at 1000 hours on Tuesday, 27 December 2011. Throughout the remainder of the post-Christmas holiday period it will be open from 10am until 4pm, with last admissions at 3pm.

People should also remembers that the museum will also be closed on Sunday, 1 January 2012, but opens again on Monday, 2 January 2012.

As always regular updates are posted on the News & Information page of the museum website at www.newarkairmuseum.org
