NAPS 50th Anniversary Gathering at
Newark Air Museum
On Saturday 20th October 2012, former members of the Northern Aircraft Preservation Society (NAPS) gathered at the Newark Air Museum Drove Lane Site. This gathering was part of a weekend of reunion celebrations to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the formation of NAPS back in 1962.
NAPS later became The Aeroplane Collection and it was felt appropriate to hold part of the reunion at Newark Air Museum, which was the second British voluntary aviation group that formed the following year.
Newark Air Museum is already starting to make preparations for an event on 14th April 2013, which will be held to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of its formal public opening.
The event was co-ordinated by Mike Ingham and was supported by Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire. The NAPS members are pictured in Display Hangar 1 at Newark Air Museum in front of de Havilland Tiger Moth G-MAZY; they later travelled into Lincolnshire to visit the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby.
