Battle of Britain Open Cockpits
Newark Air Museum

During the traditional Battle of Britain weekend the Newark Air Museum is hosting a special two day open cockpit event as part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations. On September 13th & 14th, 2008 all visitors will be able to gain access to the museum at the specially reduced rate of £4.00 per person [Adults, Over 60s and Children].

This two day event will provide another rare viewing experience of a number of its historic aircraft cockpits, which normally remain in-accessible. Some have fully fitted interiors, whilst others are partially complete.

Those aircraft that we expect to be included within this event are:

Meteor NF12, Meteor FR9, Sea Harrier, Sea Hawk, Viggen, Draken, and the Swift and Phantom cockpit sections. Viewing times of all open cockpits may be staggered throughout each day depending on the availability of volunteer aircraft openers.

It is hoped that members of the museum’s Cockpit-Opening Team will be on hand to open some of the larger aircraft like the Vulcan, Shackleton, Hastings and Varsity; but admission to each of these aircraft will be charged at the normal rate of 50p per person.

Opening Hours on both days 1000 – 1700 hours last admission 4pm.

The normal Family ticket rate of £18.50 for 2 adults & 3 children will still apply.
