The ‘Vulcan effect’ to take hold of UK’s leading beach resort!
Wimborne company helps bring Avro Vulcan XH558 to Festival weekend
Air Festival organisers are thrilled to confirm that the Avro Vulcan will be making a roaring weekend display appearance at this year’s much anticipated event. The aircraft had been booked and announced to appear on Sunday 2nd September, but it’s with thanks to sponsorship from local Wimborne company AIRglide, and business partner Action Aviation Ltd that the crowd favourite has been secured for Saturday 1st.
2012 is a historic year for the Avro Vulcan, celebrating 60 years since its first flight and the 30th anniversary of the 1982 Falklands War.
Dr Robert Pleming, CEO Vulcan to the Sky Trust said; “We are absolutely delighted to be displaying twice at this year’s Air Festival and it’s with thanks to our sponsors AIRglide Ltd and Action Aviation that we are able to do so.”
The iconic Vulcan performed a record-breaking three times in 2009 and again in 2010, amazing the hundreds of thousands of people along the packed event arena with its size, roar and sheer presence.
Commented David Stoneman Managing Director AIRglide Ltd; “We are honoured to be supporting the appearance of the Vulcan at this year’s Air Festival. It’s a unique opportunity to be associated with the weekend ‘Vulcan effect’ particularly in such a significant year. We hope festival goers enjoy the beauty of this remarkable aircraft.”
AIRglide Ltd specialises in its own unique nano surface protectant that reduces surface friction by 42% in all sectors of transport, from Aviation to road transport. The Vulcan Bomber has also been coated in their product Aviation shield ™
Added David; “We are proud to sponsor the Vulcan at our home town of Bournemouth. We have come to have a lot of respect for the Board of Directors of the charity, and for the tireless work by volunteers to keep this part of our heritage alive, and the ground crew of engineers and mechanics who keep her serviceable. We would especially like to thank Michael Trotter, Richard Clarke and Barrie Hunt, without these guys at the Vulcan to the Sky charity, we would not be here sponsoring the Vulcan for the airshow.”
Added Jon WeaverAir Festival Director; “Securing the Vulcan is a great achievement – we are delighted to welcome the aircraft back and I know Saturday’s display will be much anticipated.”
