AIR TATTOO WELCOMES MALAYSIAN LIFESAVER
An aircraft from Malaysia that was used to distribute food and medicine to victims of the Indonesian tsunami will be heading for the Royal International Air Tattoo this summer.

The Royal Malaysian CN235 short takeoff and landing transport aircraft, based at Kuala Lumpur, brought relief to the Aceh and Nias regions in the days following the disaster in December 2004.

Its participation gives a further boost to the Air Tattoo’s operational theme Rapid Global Effect, which will highlight the ability of international Air Arms to react quickly and effectively to a range of operations around the globe. The Malaysians last appeared at the Air Tattoo in 1996 when they sent a C-130 Hercules.

Two Royal Air Force C-130 Hercules, which helped bring relief following last year’s devastating earthquake in Pakistan, have also been added to a list of around 40 aircraft that will be representing the Rapid Global Effect theme this summer.

Among the others highlights are a Pakistan Air Force C-130 Hercules, a FedEx A-310, a Royal Australian Air Force Boeing 707, US Marine Corps V-22 Osprey, a USAF KC-10 and a Brazilian Air Force KC-137.
