RIAT 2006 News Release
RAF STARS TO SHINE BRIGHT AT AIR TATTOO
Two of the Royal Air Force's most prestigious assets will be lighting up the sky this summer at the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire on July 15-16.
The legendary Red Arrows, whose breathtaking display of close formation aerobatics is widely considered one of the highlights of the Air Tattoo, have confirmed they will be back to wow the crowds at RAF Fairford this summer. In the past, the Reds have also chosen the Air Tattoo to perform unique and visually stunning joint flypasts - last year alongside three historic Spitfires - and this year organisers are hoping for something even more spectacular.
And displaying its awesome power and manoeuvrability will be the latest addition to the RAF's fighter force - the state-of-the-art Eurofighter Typhoon. Despite being a relative newcomer on the Air Tattoo stage, the Typhoon's dramatic aerial displays have quickly elevated it to a pre-eminent position among the world's fast jets.
On the ground, visitors will have the opportunity to meet Top Gun pilots, get up really close to their aircraft and fly their own jets in a range of exciting flight simulators. There's the chance to set a Guinness World Record, sit in a Formula One racing car and enjoy a wide range of other entertainment including an outdoor evening concert.
Visitors have less than two weeks left to take advantage of the special Earlybird ticket price of £25.95. From Wednesday, March 1, the advance ticket price will be £30.95. Under-16s go free.
Air Tattoo Director Tim Prince said: “We introduced the Earlybird ticket in 2003 and since then it has proved hugely popular. Because under-16s can come free, it means a family of two adults and their children can enjoy a day of first-class entertainment at one of Europe's greatest outdoor events for less than £60. It really does make sense to buy your tickets before the end of the month.”
