A mid air collision between two Hawk aircraft of the Red Arrows occurred at 1150 GMT on 23rd March 2010 during a training exercise in Crete.
Flt Lt Mike Ling ejected after the collision and has been taken to hospital. He sustained a dislocated shoulder and minor injuries associated with an ejection.
His aircraft was severely damaged on impact with the runway. The other Red Arrow flown by Flt Lt Dave Montenegro landed safely with no injuries.
The incident occurred whilst the Red Arrows were undertaking pre-season training at Hellenic Air Force Base Kastelli in Crete.
The Red Arrows team including ten Hawk aircraft and a C-130 Hercules arrived on the Greek island on Sunday 21st March 2010 for the first stage of Exercise Springhawk.
The RAF said an investigation into the cause of the crash would be carried out. 2010 season training will continue as soon as possible.
