NEWARK AIR MUSEUM - News Release
Tribute to the V-Force 2010
Saturday 24 & Sunday 25, April 2010
In the six years since Newark Air Museum hosted the last Tribute to the V-Force event at their Winthorpe Showground site many things have changed in the world of aviation, not least the return to flight of Vulcan XH558.
That said the thirst for all things related to the icon Cold War Warriors of Britain's V-Force remains undiminished and this is reflected in the diversity of the participants already booked to appear at the 2010 Tribute to the V-Force event, which takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25, April 2010.
The previous organising team have helped to co-ordinate arrangements for the 2010 event; with Mike Pearson, Alan McLoughlin and Don Chadwick acting as the contacts for former V-Force Personnel. Full details of how former crew members can participate can be found at the Reunion website www.vforcereunion.co.uk
Tribute to the V-Force will provide co-ordinated displays about the three aircraft that together made up the V-Force, namely Valiant, Vulcan and Victor. Various groups/people that have an association with these types are participating along with a number of noted V-Force authors.
This event two day event is open to all who served with aircraft of the V-Force as air or ground crew, those involved in the manufacture and servicing of the types are also included. Signing in areas will be staffed by a team of V-Force volunteers, who will provide badges to be worn for mutual identification and a small registration fee will be charged.
There are five aspects to the reunion
· Visiting displays by owners of V-Force aircraft / cockpit sections
· Visiting displays by owners of V-Force related items, such as instrument panels, parts, flying clothing and scale models
· Various V-Force authors will be at the event and participating in “sell and signing sessions”.
· Squadron Associations, former V-Force Bases and Aircraft Associations
· Wg Cdr Barry Neal will be presenting a daily lecture on Air to Air Refuelling in the South Atlantic during Black Buck 1
Further event details can be found on the news page of the museum website www.newarkairmuseum.org where regular updates will be published in the run up to the event.
