Newark Air Museum - Press Release

Rare TSR-2 artefact to go on display

A rare artefact connected to the iconic yet ill-fated TSR-2 project is finally receiving some much needed restoration work before it becomes part of a new mini-display at the Newark Air Museum.

The significance of the TSR-2 wing box section was highlighted by author Damien Burke, during the research for his soon to be published book – “TSR2 – Britain's Lost Bomber”. Updated about the object, the museum trustees took the decision to utilise the wing section as part of a new indoor display, where it will join several other TSR-2 related artefacts already in the museum collection.

Preliminary work to clean up the wing section has revealed several original stencils, which confirm the originality of the object, which fulfils part of the museum's stated collecting policy relating to: “Aircraft which show the development of the Jet Fighter / Bomber from the Post War period.”

The precise timeframe for the completion of this display still has to be determined but the museum members and trustees are pleased that the project is now underway.
