NEWARK AIR MUSEUM - News Release

Cockpit-Fest 2007

Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th June 2007

This year’s Cockpit-Fest event has attracted an unprecedented level of pre-bookings for visiting cockpits. Still with two weeks to go until the actual event on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th June 2007 we now have 30 cockpits booked in.

This represents the highest ever number of pre-booked cockpits in the entire eight year history of the event!

What is even more impressive is that more than half of these cockpits [16 in total] are first time participants at the event. The museum trustees would like to send out a special message of thanks to everyone who has indicated that they plan to participate.

The latest list of participants for Cockpit-Fest 2007 [as of June 1, 2007] is as follows:

Cockpit Rigs – “cockpits in waiting” i.e. more than an instrument panels but not yet a cockpit: Seafire, P.51 and Mosquito B.35.

Special visitor - Auster V TJ398: A veteran of WWII. This is a complete aircraft, and is therefore over qualified to be a cockpit section, but never less a very welcome visitor to this event. This warbird, although a non-flyer, is a rare visitor to this area; take the opportunity to get up close to a rare type, make the most of it during this weekend.

Anyone wishing to attend with a cockpit is encouraged to contact the organiser Bill O’Sullivan via the museum website.

Exhibitor Passes for the AEROBOOT aviation and avionics will be despatched early next week. Anyone interested in receiving details should send a large SAE to the museum now or just turn up on the day.

As further participants for both events become known details will be posted on the museum website to keep everyone up to date.
