NEWARK AIR MUSEUM - News Release

Repaint completed on de Havilland Dove G-AHRI at Newark Air Museum

After months of de-corrosion, repairs and preparation work on de Havilland Dove Series 1 G-AHRI; the top-coats of paint have been completed and the markings applied.

This particular airframe is believed to be one of the oldest surviving examples of the type in the world. As a fitting tribute to this status, G-AHRI has now been painted in the markings of its first operator – the Iraq Petroleum Transport Company (I.P.T.C).

G-AHRI is recorded as having received its certificate of airworthiness on 30th December 1946, and was delivered to I.P.T.C the following day. It served with this operator until June 1957. The aircraft has been at Newark Air Museum since April 1989 and work is now underway to refit the interior cabin of the aircraft.

The Dove is likely to be used for the forthcoming Night Photo Shoot at the museum, adding a welcome civilian flavour to the event.
