Kemble Air Day 2006 Press Release

Local Talent to appear at Kemble Air Day

Sunday June18th will see the tenth anniversary air day at Kemble Airfield. Among all the exotic attractions on show, including the visit of a Boeing 757 from the Royal New Zealand Air Force, will be display acts from around the Gloucestershire / Wiltshire area.

A major feature in any Kemble Air Day will always be the Gnat, Hunters and Jet Provost from Delta Jets. This vintage jet operator has now called Kemble home for over a decade and excels in turning out pristine examples of Britain’s aviation heritage. Delta Jets pilots are also locals who were born and educated in the area before moving off to forge their careers in the Royal Air Force and commercial flying. Lookout for the Delta Jets Display team as they make their first appearance of the display season at Kemble Air Day. They will fly a fully aerobatic routine that features three classic vintage jets in close formation complete with crossover manoeuvres.

Another firm favourite with the large crowds will be the Utterly Butterly Barnstormers from Rendcomb Airfield just north of Cirencester. Their well-known daredevil wing-walking team has been displaying at airshows across Europe for over 20years and during the early 1980’s they shared practice time in the skies above Kemble with the Red Arrows when both teams were based there.

The Silver Stars parachute display team will also be dropping in to the display. Located at the Duke of Gloucester Barracks at nearby South Cerney Airfield the team will freefall from their LET410 turbo jet aircraft prior to opening their parachutes and landing precisely on the manicured grass at Kemble in front of the waiting crowd.

Ultimate High are another Kemble Airfield based operator that will be displaying their aircraft at Kemble Air Day. They will perform an incredible 5-ship flypast before the assembled masses followed by a solo routine by top pilot John Taylor in one of their Extra 300 extreme aerobatic aircraft.

The locally based Royal Air Force stations will also be represented with a C130J Hercules in the flying display from RAF Lyneham and hopefully a VC10 from Brize Norton on the ground in the static display.
