Duxford 2006 Press Release
Flying Proms Spectacular
Preparations for the Flying Proms Spectacular, to be held at Duxford on Saturday 22 July 2006, are well underway and tickets are selling fast. This year’s event promises to be better than ever with a breathtaking combination of popular classical music, historic aircraft, aerial displays and a fabulous firework finale.
The English National Orchestra, Soprano Janet Mooney and Principal Tenor with the Welsh National Opera Wynne Evans, along with flamboyant conductor Jae Alexander, are back to entertain the crowds once again with another magical evening of music, atmosphere, historic aircraft and fabulous fireworks. The Catalina Flying Boat will open the show to the Marriage of Figaro and a Spitfire will perform to the sounds of the Battle of Britain theme. A vintage bi-plane, the de Havilland Jackaroo, will drop tuxedo-clad parachutists to the strains of Magnificent Men and the Superman Theme. All this and much more will culminate in a traditional ‘last night of the Proms’ style finale and a fantastic fireworks spectacle.
