It is with huge regret that The Fighter Collection and Imperial War Museum Duxford announce that Glacier Girl is unable to continue her journey to the UK to complete her mission and star in the forthcoming Flying Legends Air Show.
The aircraft developed a serious mechanical problem, leaving her grounded at Goose Bay. The crew have, reluctantly, decided not to continue the mission. However, the wartime P-51 Mustang Miss Velma, which has accompanied Glacier Girl on her journey thus far is to continue alone, crossing a thousand miles of open ocean, to complete the mission. This will be an incredible feat for pilot Ed Shipley and highlights the determination of the crew to ensure that part of the Operation Bolero II team make the journey in time for Flying Legends. Miss Velma is scheduled to arrive at Duxford at some point over this weekend, weather permitting.
