Iconic aircraft confirmed for Bournemouth Air Festival – money still needed for second display
July 29th 2010: After weeks of will she fly…won’t she fly, Air Festival organisers have today confirmed the Avro Vulcan XH558 will be displaying Saturday 21st August at 4pm.
Although one weekend display has been secured, there is however the possibility of a second on the Sunday, but organisers still need to raise £4,000.
Gina Mackin Patron’s champion said; “One display is great but two would be fantastic; we are calling for twenty more Patrons, this could be local businesses, boat operators, retail outlets or restaurateurs, who all benefit from the Festival, to join the scheme and raise the much needed money. The Patron’s scheme was designed specifically for challenges like this and we’re asking everyone, with only 3-weeks to go to, to support both it and the Air Festival.”
The iconic Vulcan performed a record-breaking three times at last year’s Festival; amazing the hundreds of thousands people along the packed event arena with it’s size, roar and presence, it is truly an awesome aircraft.
Robert Pleming CEO Vulcan to the Sky Trust said: “We are absolutely delighted to be returning this summer. Bournemouth is a highlight for us all and to be able to reproduce the same effect this year is an achievement. A single Vulcan effect over the town is superb but another would be a real success. We’re urging everyone to get behind the Patron’s scheme in these final few weeks.”
