Bournemouth Air Festival 2010 - Press Release

BUCKLE-UP FOR A FREE 4-DAY AVIATION EXTRAVAGANZA!
Amazing aircraft, beach assaults, evening entertainment and UK's first Air Festival iphone app

Backed by the Royal Navy with air cover provided by scores of heavily-armed military aircraft and Royal Navy ships, a crack team of Royal Marines will launch a waterborne assault on Britain's best-loved seaside resort next week.

The mock "coup" is just one of the countless events that make up Bournemouth's spectacular annual free Air Festival, taking place over four days next week August 19th – 22nd.

More than a million visitors are expected to flock to the town's clifftop and beach for the event which includes displays from the world of aviation, including the Red Arrows (Friday 5pm, Saturday 12.30 & 4.30pm Sunday), the incredible Typhoon and Royal Navy Black Cats Helicopter Display Team. Displaying for the first time at the Festival will be the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16, The Parachute Regiment Freefall Team - ‘The Red Devils’, The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment's Parachute Display Team ‘The Tigers’, war bird Hunter Jet, ‘Miss Demeanour’ and Vulcan – not forgetting evening ‘Night Air’ entertainment until 10pm, all of this is completely free of charge!

With so much going on planning ahead couldn’t be easier with the first iphone app designed specifically for an Air Festival. Complete with interactive site map, resort information and Festival updates you can even purchase the LIVE Air Festival display timetable from only £2.99 to plan your day and make sure you don’t miss a thing! Down load the app before you come at the Apple Store or when you get to the resort using the free public Wi-Fi network across the seafront provided by Etherlive.

Jon Weaver Air Festival Director said: “The app is just one of the great new elements to this year’s Festival – there’s also Air Festival TV, new aircraft, bigger Night Air programme until 10pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, more live music and a dedicated Air Festival frequency 1359AM.”
